A Life Yet Lived

“A Life Yet Lived” is a modern take on A Christmas Carol but with no tangible ghosts and a smaller focus. It’s about A and B’s relationship, and how time and space weigh on them. A looks at events at the start of each act, trying to come to terms with the decisions he’s made, the decisions he’s making, and the decisions that he will make as they come to pass. Everything is set in motion once A reveals that he’s moving countries (from Midlands England to California) to work, but wishes for the two to stay together.

They’re new in their love and wish to make it work. But time-zones are difficult to manage, and in the few waking hours they do manage to talk to one another is how the story unfolds once they are separated. The moments they have together are fleeting, but the time apart is too much. A can see that their bonds are beginning to weaken and makes the decision to return to B, giving up their job. The two then try to put their lives back together as different people, their experiences having changed them until eventually, they find themselves once more only for tragedy to strike. A must then re-evaluate his choices, aware of the consequences, to see if he wishes to go through it all once again.
