After an operation, Zoe slowly loses her ability to talk, read, and write. Having recently moved with her partner Ray to his childhood home where his mother Jen still resides, Zoe finds herself being further silenced and isolated from her old life.

Through the darkest moments of Zoe’s recovery, an unlikely friendship is made, as both women discover the means to free themselves from their confinements.
